The workshop contributed to the academic and research community by elevating the status of Ahmadu Bello University and Future Africa in fostering collaborative learning and leadership development within the social sciences.
The Social Science Cluster Regional Workshop, organised under the auspices of FAR-Leaf at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, took place from 22–23 May 2024. The workshop served as a platform to foster collaborative learning, enhance research excellence, and enrich leadership development among participants in the social sciences. Recognising the pivotal role of Ahmadu Bello University's arts and humanities programs in the broader context of social sciences and epistemological pursuits, this workshop was a timely intervention addressing challenges related to mentorship, leadership, and sustainable collaboration for qualitative research.
The overarching theme of the workshop, "Fostering Research Excellence and Leadership in Social Sciences and Humanities," reflected the central goals and aspirations. The event targeted early career and emerging researchers, recognising them as the potential think tanks of Ahmadu Bello University. The workshop aimed to advance participants' careers, enhance their knowledge and broaden their professional connections, thereby contributing to the academic and research achievements of Ahmadu Bello University and Future Africa.
The workshop was graced by the presence of the vice-chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University and his management team, including the deputy vice-chancellor, deans, directors, and the university registrar. Their attendance underscored the workshop's significance and the university's commitment to fostering research excellence and leadership in the social sciences.

Dr Tonye Odubo shared her experiences of the FAR-LeaF program, highlighting the benefits and lessons learned from her program involvement and inspiring attendees to engage in similar initiatives.
The Social Science Cluster Regional Workshop successfully met its objectives by fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for early career and emerging researchers. The workshop undoubtedly contributed to the participants' and the institution's long-term academic and research excellence. The presence of university dignitaries, insightful presentations by the FAR-LeaF Fellows, and contributions from various scholars enriched the workshop, making it a milestone event in promoting research excellence and leadership in the social sciences and humanities.
