The Future Africa Research Leadership Fellowship (FAR-LeaF II) programme team monitors and evaluates the program's success through performance reports and regular focus groups with the selected candidates and mentors.

 

Key performance indicators for the programme include:

  • The number of qualifying Fellows enrolled for the fellowship who complete the programme.

  • Well-designed transboundary and transdisciplinary research projects that address relevant matters aligned with the FAR-LeaF II programme focus areas, demonstrating innovative approaches and potential impact.

  • Evidence of effective program implementation at the University of Pretoria and partner institutions.

  • Development of Fellows as skilled and well-equipped researchers able to build, manage, and expand their research.

  • Evidence of active linkage of the Fellows in the wider Pan-African network of science and research leaders associated with FAR-LeaF II.

  • Publications in international peer-reviewed journals from Fellows’ research.

  • Other tangible outputs emanating from the research.

  • Evidence of the Fellows embracing transdisciplinary research and applying new technological skills in their respective research environments.

The Future Africa Research Leadership Fellowship (FAR-LeaF) is an early career research fellowship program focused on developing transdisciplinary research and leadership skills.

The programme seeks to build a network of emerging African scientists who have the skills to apply transdisciplinary approaches and to collaborate to address complex challenges in the human well-being and environment nexus in Africa.
